Role Purpose:
This role is extremely rewarding in making a difference to people’s lives. The role of the Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner is to support the delivery of evidenced based, equitable stop smoking services to help to reduce the inequalities throughout the contracted localities.
This will include the delivery of services working remotely for varying services across the Country. It is essential that the postholder can work flexibly, independently and as part of a team. The central service is a team of focused and dynamic individuals that can adapt to differing requirments to meet the needs of the organisation.
Training will be given to ensure staff / applicants are equipped to deliver effective services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, evidence-based stop smoking interventions, empowering clients to address nicotine dependence and achieve sustainable quit outcomes. The role involves providing tailored one-to-one, group, drop-in, telephone and online support in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme, using motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques to help individuals make informed choices and set realistic goals. The postholder will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community partners to embed smoking cessation into routine care, reduce health inequalities and maximise positive health outcomes. Responsibilities also include leading peer support sessions to prevent relapse, delivering education on smoking cessation and behavioural change, maintaining accurate client records in line with ABL Health policies, analysing local health and service data to inform delivery, and providing a high-quality, cost-effective service across a variety of community settings. The successful candidate will also support the wider service by providing clinic cover where required, contributing to service integration and continuous improvement, and effectively managing competing priorities in a busy and evolving environment.
Skills and Competencies Required
· Be an experienced Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner within the community. (Training will be given)
· Experience of working with evolving and developing services
· Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve the highest standards and outcomes.
· Adept in communication; A strong communicator who adapts the message to fit the needs of the audience including clients, staff, and volunteers at all levels.
· Build strong relationships, foster trust and co-operation among colleagues, stakeholders throughout community settings.
· Quality driven; you naturally seek high standards and actively seek to improve them.
· Value and remain open to new ideas and perspectives.
