The Day of Ukrainian Language and Literature is a special yearly event that takes place on October 27. It focuses on Ukraine’s language and literary traditions, promoting cultural pride, education, and a deeper appreciation for the Ukrainian language and its literary works.
Be U Notts is embracing the annual Ukrainian literary celebration, known as ‘The Day of Ukrainian Language and Literature,’ through a series of creative and educational activities. One of the highlights of this initiative is the word exchange between the children and the Be U Notts team.
In addition to the delivery of our ‘Grounded’ wellbeing workshops, the friendship between the team at Be U Notts and the children at Nottingham’s Ukraine school continues to flourish. The most recent project involves an exchange of words which is most definitely challenging our pronunciation skills. Whilst the Be U Notts team are off in search of Паляниця [palya’nytsia] (a staple round bread), they wait in excited anticipation for the next response from the children. This ongoing project is having a positive impact on both the children and the staff at Be U Notts. It not only encourages cultural awareness but also enhances language skills, fostering a deeper connection to the Ukrainian heritage.
A big thank you to Lina Maksymuk, the schools headteacher, for supporting this meaningful (and enjoyable) collaboration.
